Take Me To The River

A Colorado River rafting trip through Grand Canyon National Park provides a whitewater rafting and camping vacation like no other. Towering cliffs, cool lush grottoes, thrilling rapids, and giant sand beaches can be experienced throughout the canyon corridor while guides share their knowledge of the natural and human history of the area. Colorado River whitewater rapids are rated from one to 10, with 10 being the hardest runnable rapid and equivalent to rafting class IV+ whitewater on the international scale.

Each day on the river is different and full: a mix of rapids and smooth water, hikes to hidden side canyons, waterfalls, and remnants of ancient indigenous dwellings with pottery. Rafting lets you experience the canyon from a wonderfully unique and impressive perspective.

There are three different options for rafting the Grand Canyon; The Upper Section (6-8 days), Lower Section (8-11 days), or combining both (14-18 days). Travel and transfer days usually add 1-2 days onto any trip down the Grand Canyon.

Side Hikes

From the river, we are able to access many side hikes to incredible vistas, side creeks that create lush green environments, and archeological/historical sites. Grand Canyon trips are often called hiking trips with raft transportation. If you want to stay active, there is an opportunity to hike almost every day.

Camp and Culinary

As we move down the river, the guide crew sets up a camp kitchen, and assists guests in setting up their cots and tents. Regardless of whether you choose the elevated food options, or have our guides cook for you, you’ll be relaxing on your own private beach at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Games of Bocce Ball and other lawn games are common while the group relaxes and waits for dinner to be served.

Inflatable Kayaking

For the most active and adventurous, our inflatable kayaking option allows guests to take on some of the rapids from a single person inflatable kayak.

Final Day Takeout

Upper trips hike up the Bright Angel trail to the South Rim of the Grand canyon. For Full and Lower trips, there are multiple departure options, including a convenient helicopter out option. Many guests decide to charter a flight on the front or back end of the trip, and the Heli team has experience assisting with all of those logistics.

Property Details

Welcome to Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson’s private island paradise in the British Virgin Islands, a stunning and unspoiled area of the Caribbean. At 74 acres, Necker Island sits in turquoise waters surrounded by coral reefs, fringed with beautiful white sandy beaches and is home to the most spectacular wildlife.

DAY 1

EXPLORE

Corn snow, the result of melt-freeze cycles, is ideal for Alaska heli skiing and boarding—and it holds up well in our margaritas. Pebble-size kernels of softening ice have a soft carve-able surface and our guides are experienced harvesters who know how to predict the best timing for the best locations. Count on corn runs during the morning hours, or at the end of the day, after the cooling has refrozen the round crystals. One Kings and Corn highlight is experiencing a carve-able surface for t-shirt skiing in 75 degrees.

Day 2

KiteSURF

If you fancy giving it a try, the Island has the ideal set up for beginners – the first stage is simply mastering to fly a kite, after which the instructors will help you move to the water to put your skills into practice. They also offer advanced tuition for anyone already riding.

DAY 3

RESTORE

Find your inner zen with a yoga class or strengthen your core with a fitness coach, at various locations on the island. It’s a great way to appreciate the island’s spectacular sunsets.

Then take your pick from four infinity pools dotted around the island. A couple even feature a swim-up bar and hot tub. For those brave enough to try it, there’s also a cold plunge by the main beach pool.

DAY 4

TENNIS

On the island are two beautiful astroturf tennis courts. Surrounded by lush greenery and situated just meters from the ocean, guests can enjoy a Caribbean breeze while showing off their serves, volleys and groundstrokes. The island has also benefitted from the recent addition of two new courts for the latest craze in paddle sports: padel and pickleball.

Racquets and balls are supplied for all three sports, and all courts are floodlit, enabling guests to play at their leisure. Competitions can be arranged on request for all levels, either in the morning or afternoon.

DAY 5

OFF ISLAND

Explore beyond Necker Island and join us for an unforgettable half day excursion in the British Virgin Islands. Please note that one off-island excursion, excluding the trip to Anegada Island, is included in every stay.

ABOUT NECKER ISLAND

Necker Island is spread over 74 acres with a 3-mile perimeter and there are a number of trails crossing the island. You can also walk all the way around, something Richard does on a regular basis. From the Great House, it’s a leisurely 6-7 minute walk to Main Beach where most of the activities are based and where you’ll find the Beach House and Crocodile Pavilion. It’s roughly the same distance to the Bali Hi complex and it’s a little bit further to the Bali Lo complex – allow for a 10-minute walk. If you’re in a hurry or it’s just too hot our team will be happy to give you a lift to your destination.
